Rockstar Studios announced that Freemode Events are headed to Grand Theft Auto V Online in an upcoming update that will be available on September 15th. These will be organized events that everyone can take part in, without having to enter a lobby.
The events can occur at any time while playing in freemode, and players have the option to customize their game session, so you'll only see the events you want to participate in. The events include King of the Castle, which is a free for all where players attempt to capture and defend a designated area. There is also Hunt the Beast, where one player is essentially transformed into a werewolf with increased strength and speed, and the other players must pursue and destroy him. There are various stunt and speed events that will be available as well.
The new update also brings two new Adversary Modes: Hunting Pack, and Cross the Line. In Hunting Pack, you're on a team that's delivering a vehicle that's rigged to explode if it drops below the allotted minimum speed, while the opponent team is trying to stop you by any means necessary. Cross the Line is a mode that pits two heavily armed teams against each other, and victory is claimed when all members of your team penetrate enemy territory. In addition, the Rockstar Editor will also be coming to PS4 and Xbox One with this update, and new features will be added to it for PC players.
Unfortunately, this update will only be available to players who have PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Rockstar has stated that last generation consoles are no longer powerful enough to receive further updates.
